Very few people have been good at predicting the future of technology. A few shining luminaries have managed such feats, but in the past, predictions of the future and the reality of it were very different things. Yet, today, scientists have a far better idea of how technology is likely to evolve and therefore predicting the future of technology is becoming more and more accurate all the time.

The worrying upshot of this is that scientists predict that, before long, the artificial intelligences we create are likely to be superior to us. Ultimately, man is a machine, like any other machine, even if we happen to be a living breathing organism at the same time. Therefore, what will happen when these new machines can effectively replace us?

Well, it may be worth looking to science fiction as less of a fiction and more as potential future fact. For example, recent films showed the ubiquity of the effective touch screen PC, something that fifteen years ago was a relatively unbelievable concept. Yet the idea of sentient machines taking over the earth is quite far removed from the humble touch screen PC.

However, what the touchscreen PC shows is that science fiction is becoming science fact far quicker than ever before. Whilst futuristic films might once have taken decades to become reality, if ever at all, now within a few short years, our ideas are becoming reality. So is the touchscreen PC a symbol of our imminent demise?

Well, there is no need to worry yet. Whilst fictional technology is becoming fact faster than ever before, the scope for what it can achieve is still very different to how films predict it. So whilst we know how the future might look, we still have very little idea of exactly how the future will be run.

Binoculars are used to view objects from long distances away. Mainly used in hobbies such as hunting or bird watching, they are a useful visual aid. The literal meaning of the word binoculars comes from Latin and means ‘two eyes’. Binoculars are basically two identical telescopes that are juxtaposed and facing the same direction. In contrast to a typical telescope, when using binoculars, you use both eyes without needing to close one and the image viewed is three dimensional. Binoculars typically consist of three main components. The first is the smallest lens called the eyepiece lens which is the part held to the eye. The next is the objective lens which is furthest away from your eye and is also the largest. The final part is the prism which is inside of the binocular itself. This is very important and functions as a mirror. A prism is a solid piece made from glass. As it does not have a mirror’s usual reflective back it is able to refract the light. There are different types of prisms that can alter and affect the quality of the final image that reaches your eye.

Binoculars work by refracting light using these three essential parts. The objective lens obtains light from the object being viewed and amplifies it in order to bring it into focus in the eyepiece where it is can be viewed as a visible image. However, these two lenses alone are not enough as this image would be the wrong way around. To ensure the picture you receive is not upside down the prism is used to correct the image before it reaches your eyes. If you look through a pair of binoculars the wrong way, for example, through the objective lens, images appear tiny and much further away than the actual reality.

It’s strange to think that the same principles that allegedly make time travel possible are the same principles that need to be taken in to account to ensure that vehicle tracking systems work. Whilst the two have very little in common, the fact that time travels at different speeds throughout the universe has to be taken into account when utilizing anything that uses GPS.

Every day governments have to correct the time of satellites out in space due to the fact that time travels at a different rate in space than it does on earth. This means that, were the clocks not changed on a regular basis, the satellites would have no direct correlation with the clocks down here on earth.

Whilst the effects on vehicle tracking systems might only be negligible, other satellite-based operations may be more dramatically affected as, without a constant time, trying to synchronise anything between earth and a satellite would be almost impossible.

So, whilst knowledge of this time discrepancy is important to keep fleet vehicle tracking and the like working affectively, what does it really mean for time travel? Well, the discovery that time travels faster in space, allows us to understand that time travels slower around things with a higher gravity. It also travels slower as you approach the speed of light. This technically means that by building a machine that can travel close to the speed of light or by circling something with a huge gravitational mass, you can effectively slow time and, effectively, this becomes time travel. With the speed of light scenario you could travel forward a hundred years in just one week and see what the future has to hold.

So next time you are using your fleet vehicle tracking facilities, just remember that the technology behind it may hold the key to travelling through time.

Today, reaching a wider audience is all about technological presence. Whilst marketing will still be very important, unless you have the right technological platforms for people to reach you and interact with you or your products/services, then the chances are you will be losing customers elsewhere. Whilst the marketing will ensure people hear about you, the technology you choose will ensure whether or not they stay with you.

The majority of consumers are looking for increased usability with the companies they deal with and, most importantly, the ability to utilise services when on the go. No matter who you are or what you do, there is therefore a good chance that a mobile phone or tablet app is likely to see people returning to your sites again and again simply due to the ease that such facilities offer.

Therefore, application development can help you to create new ways for users and consumers to interact with you or what you offer and, in turn, you can not only make your company more accessible and appealing, but also more interesting too. The scope of application development means that such apps don’t just have to be practical, but they can also be attractive, amusing or informative too.

The type of approach you take to creating or expanding your technological platforms will need to be very much focussed on what you offer. Using IT managed services can not only ensure that you are taking the right approach, but the best companies offering IT managed services will also be able to make sure that you are constantly at the forefront of new technological platforms and therefore stay ahead of the game, rather than jumping on a fading bandwagon.

Ultimately, if you wish to reach a wider market, the best approach will be to understand the best technologies for consumers and, most importantly, for you.

Non-Contact Measuring Equipment has the ability to provide high standard, accurate results and they are easy to learn and of the highest quality. Using Non-contact measuring equipment’s like video non-contact measuring machines, non-contact coordinate measuring machine and optical measuring machines will greatly improve the profitability of your business and the accuracy of production. This equipment uses a combination of high-precision optics, sophisticated light sources and video recognition to quantify parts and control the quality of your manufacturing process.

The different types of Non-contact measuring equipment’s are Video Non-Contact Measuring Machines easy to program and operate and the measuring system use the CCD to capture the image instead of the profile projector. The non-contact video measuring system could offer a solution to solve the problem of changing the lens and to measure the surface of working piece unlike the profile projector. It prepares the statistics analysis and make SPC report a directly.

Then Coordinate Measuring Machines which is equipment utilized for measuring the physical geometrical features of an entity. This machine may be manually controlled by an operator or computer controlled. This machine features Crash protection, Offline programming, it has SPC software and temperature compensation due to which there is increased controller compatibility within the machine.

Along with it this machine provides laser safety and accuracy and last you have the Optical Measuring Machines have high magnifying factor they help to develop, maintain and provide important production processes and are able to measure surfaces without physical contact. This ensures that all parts are stuck to given standards and with perfect dimensions. They are used for measurement of flat elements such as gaskets, washers and stamped items generally. These machines are Fast and flexible and designed to face the modern market requirements.

All the above non-contact measuring equipment mentioned improve the productivity of your business.

It is rare that new developments in engineering are made from nothing. Usually things are developed from existing materials or techniques and it is only later that people begin to question this adaptation and look for new ways to employ these new ideas.

A good example of this is the introduction of plastics after the Second World War. Initially it was seen as a way to produce a cheap alternative to materials such as wood or metal. These had been used for hundreds of years to produce a wide range of products including high quality and high value pieces. The trouble was it takes a lot of machining to produce most things from them and so the unit prices are high. With the introduction of injection moulding techniques a much quicker and cheaper way of producing these items was found.

In the beginning the plastic items were made to look like their more expensive counterparts and so they became seen as a poor cheap alternative. The term ‘plastic looking’ was seen as derogatory. It did not take long however before people stopped looking on plastic as an alternative to traditional materials but as a valuable material in its own right with its own unique properties. This led to an explosion of designs in the 1960’s specifically using plastic.

This was also true in the engineering world where things had been traditionally fastened together with nuts and bolts. Whilst these are still widely used and are now also manufactured in nylon there are now unique plastic fasteners that use plastics unique properties.

These plastic fasteners use the fact that unlike wood and metal plastic has a degree of flexibility. Plastic fasteners come in two parts which are simply pushed together through the work piece, griping tightly. At Bluemay we manufacture a range of these special plastic fasteners as well as tradition plastic nuts and bolts.
